Therapy

Whether this is your first time working with a therapist or you are an experienced client, our first priority is to build comfort and trust within the therapeutic relationship. According to the American Psychiatric Association, "Research shows that most people who receive psychotherapy experience symptom relief and are better able to function in their lives". "Psychotherapy has been shown to improve emotional and psychological well-being and is linked with positive changes in the brain and body. The benefits also include fewer sick days, less disability, fewer medical problems, and increased work satisfaction". There are many different therapeutic modalities and techniques that are implemented based on the clinician, client, and presenting concerns. Often, therapists will draw from a variety of these in order to serve each client's unique needs.

Effective Solutions Delivered Directly to You

Online therapy (also known as virtual therapy, tele-therapy, and video therapy) has become increasingly more popular due to it's many advantages and has also been proven to be just as good as in-person therapy when appropriately administered.

After moving away from the Bay Area in 2017, I was looking for a way to continue serving my clients that did not require a commute. I had provided video therapy in other roles and decided to offer it in my private practice. The results have been outstanding and so I decided to make tele-therapy the predominant service in my practice.

The benefits of online therapy include:

  • having sessions in the comfort and privacy of your own home or office

  • flexible scheduling

  • being able to have sessions when you or your therapist are out of town

  • no spending precious time on commuting to your therapist's office

  • no transportation costs

  • ability to choose a therapist based on fit instead of proximity

I am so pleased to offer my clients an accessible and modern way to access support and mentoring.

Therapeutic Modalities

Attachment-Based

“Attachment styles are stable but plastic. Knowing your specific attachment profile will help you understand yourself better and guide you in your interactions with others. Ideally this will result in more happiness in your relationships.” –Amir Levine & Rachel Heller

Attachment Based Therapy (not to be confused with Attachment Therapy) helps people to identify and heal early relationship wounds that impact their present-day relationships.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

“For there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so”

-William Shakespeare.

One of the most well-studied modalities, CBT focuses on the interconnection between thoughts, feelings and behaviors. CBT includes psychoeducation, addressing maladaptive thinking patterns (known as "thought distortions"), relaxation techniques, exposure techniques, and behavioral activation.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

"You don't have to control your thoughts. You just have to stop letting them control you." -Dan Millman.

A type of cognitive therapy, DBT is an evidence-based therapy that has a strong focus on teaching skills for affect/emotion regulation and navigating social relationships.

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR)

“Recovery doesn’t mean the damage never existed. It simply means it no longer controls you.”  -Unknown

EMDR is a structured, eight-phase, therapy that focuses on reprocessing traumatic memories while experiencing bilateral stimulation (typically visually through eye movements, but may also be executed through auditory or tactile stimuli).

Mindful Self Compassion

“Recovery doesn’t mean the damage never existed. It simply means it no longer controls you.”  -Unknown

Family systems therapy addresses underlying relationship dynamics and looks at how each individual has the ability to effect change within the relational system as a whole.

“A musician must make music, an artist must paint, a poet must write, if he is to be ultimately at peace with himself. What a man can be, he must be. This need we may call self-actualization. . . . This tendency might be phrased as the desire to become more and more what one is, to become everything that one is capable of becoming.”
-Abraham Maslow

Humanistic therapy is a strengths-based approach that assists people in personal growth and self-actualization.

"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken." -Oscar Wilde

Integrative therapy is perhaps one of the most effective therapeutic approaches in that the therapist selects specific methods and techniques specific to each client's individual needs.

“Between the stimulus and response, there is a space. And in that space lies our freedom and power to choose our responses. In our response lies our growth and our freedom” -Viktor Frankl.

Mindfulness therapies focuses on building awareness of thoughts, feelings, emotions, and external stimuli. Through this awareness, clients are able to slow down automatic reactions and intentionally choose response.

This is a moment of suffering. Suffering is part of life. May I be kind to myself in this moment. May I give myself the compassion I need." --Kristin Neff

Mindful Self Compassion combines mindfulness, kindness towards self, and interconnectedness to help enhance emotional wellbeing.

Solution Focused Therapy

“Identify your problems but give your power and energy to solutions.” – Tony Robbins.

Solution Focused Therapy helps clients to identify and work toward specific goals within a brief timeframe.
